How Long Will an Inspection Take
In general terms a home inspection will take about 1 hour per 1,000 sqft plus 45 minutes. If you have a 3,000 sqft house it will take approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes. The report will be ready within 24 hours but it is usually completed the night of the inspection.
We can review the inspection with you while you are at the house with us to help answer any questions or concerns that you may have. If you were unable to attend we can video conference or call to help you understand the report.
What Makes the Difference
Two Moose Home Inspections does a few things differently to help ensure the best possible inspection for you and your new home. Every home inspection includes thermal imaging and 360 degree photos. We also offer sewer scope inspections, radon testing, drinking water testing, well recovery testing, and walking on roofs.
The radon detectors that we use have double the number of sensors required by the EPA for a real estate transaction. We are able to provide you with a detailed hour by hour report of your home’s radon levels.
We use self-leveling color sewer scopes to provide you with the best possible sewer pipe inspection. Sewer scope inspections can save you from purchasing a home with an expensive issue hiding under the ground.
We have invested thousands of dollars in report writing software and data collection technology, and we will use thermal imaging and 360 degree photos on every inspection.
We can test drinking water and a well’s ability to recover to ensure that your water needs are both safe and adequate.
Home inspectors are not required to walk on roofs. The majority of all issues start at the roof and that is where we want to be. We use safety ropes and harnesses that allow us to inspect your roof without risk.
Continuing Education
In addition to the certificates listed below, all Two Moose home inspectors participate in continuing education provided by the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors and in-house training provided by Two Moose Home Inspections.
Training Every Year
Our inspectors complete a minimum of 24 credit hours of formal home inspection education from the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors. These credit hours are in addition to the 90 credit hours required to become a certified professional inspector.
Training Every Month
Two Moose Home Inspections hosts a monthly 4 hour long in-service training which allows our inspectors to share experiences, learn about new topics, and grow their understanding of good customer service. Our monthly in-service trainings consist of two public facing modules and one private module.
Training Every Week
Our Inspectors independently find articles, blog posts, podcast episodes, and so many other things that pertain to home inspections that they share with the team. This general excitement towards home inspections and learning is what separates our inspectors from the competition. You can’t train this level of enthusiasm, either the inspector has it or they don’t.
Public In-Service Training
You can view the public facing modules of our monthly training topics by subscribing to our newsletter, reading our blog, or visiting YouTube. Our long format In-Service Training videos are specifically geared towards the business and issues that we found while performing home inspections. Our short format Inspector Insights videos are just the tip of the iceberg when compared to the in-depth discussions that we have as home inspectors about the underlying topic or issue.
Private In-Service Training
In addition to the topics we discuss in our public facing in-service training videos, we also have deep discussions about other topics that never make it into the videos such as safety, business, technical how-to procedures, statistics, software, and the importance of work life balance.
