FAQ Series - Our Mission at Two Moose Home Inspections
Hey, this is Jon with Two Moose Home Inspections, and welcome to the Frequently Asked Questions Series.
Today’s video will center around our mission at Two Moose Home Inspections and how we achieve it.
I won’t take up time in this video reciting a buzzword filled mission statement that gets dusty on the wall, instead, I just want to tell you that our objective is to make sure you don’t get in over your head.
Every house has something, and different people have different abilities and levels of aversion to the issues that are found. At one point, I worked for a person who felt that needing to repaint the interior walls was a deal breaker but conversely I worked for a guy who was excited about bringing his excavation equipment in after hours to dig out the foundation, fix the water intrusion issue, and regrade the ground around the house he was buying because he loved the property so much, and that type of work wasn’t a big deal to him.
Now, I am not saying that foundation issues are within everyone’s ability to repair, because those types of issues are far outside of my comfort zone, but different strokes for different folks. My goal is to point out the issues that we found during the day of the inspection so you can make an informed decision about what you feel comfortable with.
I really enjoy educating people about the systems and features of their new home, which then helps them understand what “defects” are normal and expected and what defects are serious and concerning. Granted an issue that wasn’t visually identifiable on the day of the inspection could manifest itself after the inspection within minutes or not at all for several years.
However, if you perform general and common annual maintenance on your house and pay attention to the signs that your house is giving you, these issues will be further apart and less severe. Remember, every house has something, and every day that something can change, but on the day of the inspection, I want to make sure that that “something” isn’t more than you can handle.
